My husband and I were vacationing in the area for the weekend and were in the mood for eggs. So, naturally, once we saw this place on the road, we went in. We didn't have to wait very long for a table, and our waitress was really nice. My husband ordered a smoothie and when he found it to be more on the watery side, she gladly offered to bring him another one. It did take a little longer than usual to get our food, but once we took a bite, we were satisfied. I got the Eggspectation Omelet, which was super tasty. But I have to say, the best part was the potatoes! They were perfect!

A pleasant surprise to come across this treat in an area of chain restaurants and fast-food shops. As my wife has already covered details, I will comment on the food. The potatoes that my wife talked about were definitely fabulous. It seems like these potato wedges (for lack of a better word) come with almost every dish, and yet the cooks do a good job of making this bulk item quite tasty. I had a crepe and it was decent. The main reason that I am giving them four stars is because of the large portions and the good prices on the food. Like I mentioned above, a pleasant surprise and great given what you pay.

as some of you may know, i love breakfast. it seems to me the only natural first meal of the day regardless of when i wake up. i cannot speak much to anyone before i've had my coffee. i yearn for long, leisurely, bottomless brunches in places where there are none to be found. i pray aloud for eggies and bloody marys on those days when i wake up and wish i hadn't. eggspectation was an ideal destination for me in portland, where my girls and i could wander in in the early afternoon, looking for a little hair of the dog, a lot of coffee, and something benedict, and carry on the kind of conversations that kept other patrons at a safe distance. though it's been years, i still mourn the loss of eggspectation a little every time the brunch pangs hit. they have lunch and dinner too, but i'll miss sitting amid the weirdly opulent egg-themed decor, nursing my hung over stomach with their smoked salmon benedict, grilled tomatoes, pancake with fruit and English cream, and and probably the only latkes in the state of maine. oy.

This place has BY FAR the best eggs I have ever had. You would hope this would be the case with Egg being the central part of their name, but even just plain scrambled eggs are amazingly good. It probably has to do with them being so fresh. They must go through a thousand eggs a day at this location alone. The name is a little misleading though, their central theme is certainly the egg but the place is much more than that. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and I have yet to have something from there that isn't very good to outstanding. They serve their breakfast items all-day long and it's very difficult to pick something from the other side of the menu for me as I just love breakfast items, but the few times I have ventured away from the huge breakfast side of the menu I have been more than happy with my selection. The atmosphere is great, kind of out of place in South Portland really, but very enjoyable. Expect a laid back and casual atmosphere with a unique young and hip twist. They have a full service bar and excellent deserts (we'll I've only really had their carrot cake because I seldom have room, but everything else looks like it would be great). We have now moved a little further away than we used to be from this place, but it's well worth an hour drive once and a while. Overall it is a little on the pricey side for some of their items (most itmes on the breakfast menu are $8-$10) but overall worth the money.

Something a little different from the norm. We stumbled upon this place while on a weekend trip to Portland. My wife and I had dinner here one evening, as the other reviewer suggested the theme is certainly centered around eggs although there are plenty of items on the menu that don't have eggs in them. My wife had the chicken and shrimp stir fry and she loved it. I had a crepe with scrambled eggs, black forest ham and three cheese. We would visit again.

I'm a breakfast person, and I LOVE my eggs. This place was made for me. The menu is great, and the prices aren't too bad either.
